We are funded by leading venture capital investors, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Special Operations Command, the U.S. Air Force, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Our goal is to establish the broad platform potential of our approach across a number of psychiatric and neurological conditions.
Targeting the Root of the Disease
Our investigational products use low-intensity focused ultrasound to precisely target and modulate specific activity in the deep brain. Our trials are designed to demonstrate the safety of our approach and our ability to target the core structures in the deep brain that underlie various medical conditions. We are currently investigating treatments for sleep disorders, human performance (alertness, cognitive function), depression, pain, movement disorders, and tinnitus.
Help Advance Chronic Pain Research
Chronic pain affects approximately 25% of the U.S. population, presenting a significant public health challenge. While medication remains the most common treatment, it often proves inadequate as a long-term solution. Alternative therapies such as physical therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy offer benefits but are not universally effective. More advanced, research-backed interventions like deep brain stimulation show promise yet are frequently associated with serious side effects.
Despite these options, millions of patients continue to experience untreated or unresponsive chronic pain under the current standard of care. Our mission is to transform their treatment outcomes, providing a more effective and sustainable solution.
We are enrolling participants for an ongoing research study in San Francisco to evaluate if our solution improves pain in patients with chronic pain.*

Participants must be:
Experiencing chronic pain
22 to 80 years old
Able to undergo a brain MRI
Able to visit trial location in San Francisco
Fluent in English
You may not be eligible if you:
Have a recent or ongoing, uncontrolled, clinically significant medical condition or psychiatric disease other than essential tremor
Are unable, for any reason, to complete a brain MRI scan
Are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, or nursing children
Your participation in this study is completely optional. You can choose to stop for any reason at any time. Participants will be financially compensated.The Attune System is an investigational device and is limited by United States law to investigational use.
* The therapy used in this study uses ultrasound stimulation parameters that are within safety limits determined by the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and International Transcranial Ultrasonic Stimulation Safety and Standards consortium (ITRUSST).
